"Conflict Resolution for Couples - the R.I.V.E.R. Method" is the 2020 updated edition (and the 15th Anniversary edition) of the book that was first published in 2005 (simply titled "Conflict Resolution for Couples"). There were revised editions put out in 2007 ("the Revised and Expanded Edition"), 2009, 2011, and 2015 ("the Complete Edition").   I usually recommend this title for married couples along with "The Top 10 Marriage Essentials" as a great companion title. For singles, I would suggest "Conflict Resolution for Couples - 'Just the Tools' Edition", along with "The Top 10 Dating Essentials" as its companion.                                                                           Please note: If you're purchasing a used edition of this book, be sure that it's the 2020 updated edition before you buy it. If it's selling really cheap, most likely you're getting an older edition. Paul Shaffer has a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology and is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina. He has worked with adults, couples, families, and children as a professional counselor for over 30 years, both in the private and public sectors, including the hospital, jail, residential treatment and county mental health populations. It was primarily through Paul's private practice and support group work that he was able to focus on couples in conflict, a choice that ultimately led to the writing of this book.
