Families come in all shapes and sizes! Lily is a tiny tadpole in search of a family. She refuses to give up until her dream comes true when she's adopted by a lizard. Your child will love this timeless, poetic story about love, acceptance and perseverance. This adorable story touches on themes of love and hope and teaches you that family doesn’t necessarily have to be those who are related to you. I think this story would be a wonderful lesson to young children, especially those in foster homes, as it will show them that somewhere out there someone is wishing to have a child just as much as they are wishing for a family. The beautiful and colorful illustrations done by Liliia Ivolha just add to the soft tone of this story and contribute to the atmosphere. Overall, I think this is such a wonderful children’s book and would recommend it for young children. - Readers Favorite - 5 stars "This book will "jump" it's way right into your heart. Whimsical and loving. A great way to introduce your kids to an important life lesson."Michele Braun - Goodreads "Such a sweet book about finding love and making a family. Beautiful illustrations, too. My kids love it."Nicola Geary - Goodreads "This book is great! My preschoolers love the pictures and the message is beautiful. We read this regularly and the children are always impressed with it."Gina - Goodreads "Author creates a nice lyrical cadence for the book, with bright energy and purpose. We understand Lily's motivation - to belong and to be cherished - and author handles the subtle darkness of why Lily can't find her biological mother very well. The young reader will be engaged enough with Lily's search and fate's hand in placing her in front of her new mother to skim by any question of her biological mother's location. Author's instinct in glossing over reality here provides a freedom for the parent or reader to answer a child's question of 'where did she go?' if needed. We also embrace Momma Lizard's prayers for a child, and we're very satisfied with their dreams each being met. I enjoyed the author's creativity with the rhyming pattern; no rhymes are forced, and we get some great sentence structure to make the wordplay natural. Illustrations are bright and expressive, with good emotion shown in the characters' faces, and I appreciated the care paid to setting and sensory details such as reflections in the water and the blurred setting details such as flowers that created depth, texture and scent for added realism. Well done. The illustrations of Lily's bedroom stand out as a detail-filled vision of a wish granted and Lily's 'place to belong' come to life. Very smart to provide that glimpse into her new world. Nicely done."Judge No. 6 - 2018 Writer's Digest Self Published Book Awards Commentary Cara McNulty is a children's book author, writing books for kids of all ages.
