A collection of recipes from Nelda Spurlock Arnold, a Louisiana-born and raised wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. The cookbook originated in the mid-nineties with five handwritten notebooks, one for each of her children. It has been followed by several “editions” since then. Upon losing her work in a cookbook software, she started compiling the recipes onto her computer, soon adding in family pictures and memories. Nelda carefully crafted this cookbook to include simple recipes intended to save you a trip to the grocery store, assuming that you already have most of the basic ingredients in your pantry or refrigerator. In her collection, Nelda has thoughtfully included a variety of easy recipes for beginners. This includes classics like mashed potatoes, two-ingredient biscuits, and a quick vegetable beef soup. She has also shared the basics of making white sauce and a roux, which are integral to many traditional southern dishes.
