My story is that of a boy who was born in the small village of Katol, India, who came to America with $6.00 in his pocket and a mind full of dreams. It was the 1960's and immigrants from all over the world were streaming into this country, seeking opportunities for better lives for themselves. I overcame obstacles and became Founder and Chairman of Newtex Industries, a Textile manufacturing company in Upstate New York founded in 1978. It is thriving to this day. The book outlines my struggles with starting a business - getting college degrees (MS in Textiles and MBA) to gaining job experience, to my early attempts to start a business to raising capital and founding my own company. I am proud to say that I developed an asbestos substitute called Zetex, which has replaced asbestos products worldwide. Our products, unlike asbestos, contain no cancer-causing agents. They are being used in heavy industries, such as petro-chemical, shipbuilding and automotive industries as thermal protection in high temperature applications. Newtex Industries has won several awards, such as Exporter of the Year, Small Business Person of the Year and the Civic Award for Business. I have also been privileged to serve on the Board of Directors of the Buffalo branch of the Federal Reserve Bank. I have a great family that has seen me struggle through this life's adventure. My wife Anita, my kids Sadhana and Sunil, their spouses and 5 grandchildren. My son-in-law Jerry Joliet is now CEO and is successfully running the company, taking it to the next level. This book is not just about achieving one's dream but it is also about overcoming obstacles, about striving to succeed and about being rewarded for your efforts in this great country we call America. With this book, I hope to inspire young entrepreneurs to dream big, to venture out into the unknown and reach their potential. If they have the grit and determination to succeed , they can do it.
