Refined single origin teas have their place, but sometimes you simply want to enjoy a nice cup of tea that is just plain comforting. While we found this comparison strange, many of our customers have said that this tea reminds them of a cream soda (but without the fizz and a lot less sweet). Maybe it is because the vanilla brings a fuzzy warmth to the zippy jasmine that gives us a uniquely flavored tea that just tastes good.

Tasting Notes
Real vanilla beans and fresh jasmine flowers give this tea a unique flavor many have compared to a cream soda. It has a full and robust flavor with a malty black tea base, a rich floral taste from the jasmine, and a wonderful creaminess from the vanilla. The result is unique, comforting, and delicious.

Sourcing
This tea is pretty simple. We combine bourbon vanilla beans from Madagascar with handcrafted jasmine tea from China. The bourbon vanilla bean is the most popular variety in the world. The flavor actually has nothing to do with bourbon. It was named so because it is grown on Bourbon Island (now Réunion Island) in the Indian Ocean off the East Coast of Africa. The Madagascar vanilla bean has a creamy, sweet, and velvety flavor that is commonly found in ice cream and Crème Brûlée. It is the sweetest and richest of all the vanillas.

Next, we use the finest grade Yin Hao Jasmine. The tea base is full of sweet silver tea tips giving the tea extra character and complexity. Grown in the Fujian Province, the green tea is plucked early in spring when the leaves are fresh and tender. We then quickly dry the tea leaves to prevent them from curling. Next, we chill and store the green tea leaves until later in summer when the jasmine flowers are in full bloom where they are scented over seven nights.
