At 1/4" (6mm) and 5/16" (8mm) thick, this cord is heftier and provides a higher tensile strength than regular 550 paracord, which comes in at 5/32" (3mm) thick. Para-Max provides a thicker and stronger alternative to your favorite 550 paracord, and soon will become your cord of choice.

Both the 1/4" and 5/16" have a minimum tensile strength of 1,000 lbs. 1/4" is constructed with three 4-ply inner cores (totaling 12) while 5/16" is constructed with six 3-ply twisted inner cores (totaling 18). Both cords are enclosed in a 32-strand interwoven nylon outer sheath.
