Hi, my name is Coach Chris and I want to help your players make more effective moves on the court or the field so that they are developing the skills they need to compete in real games. Many coaches and I included use regular cones but they don't simulate real defenders very well. They can easily be stepped over. I can tell you when I use regular cones I always get players who step right over them even though I've told them that that is a defender and they can't just run through a defender's body. But players continue to step over them and they just aren't improving at the rate they could or that I want them to. I've used chairs if they are available but most of the time chairs aren't available and I'm not going to haul chairs around in my car for defenders. I wouldn't have the room and it would be a lot of trouble. And then it seems like there are always a couple of chairs missing the rubber tip on a leg and I don't want to take a chance of scratching a wood floor. And of course, there aren't chairs out on the soccer or football field to use for more realistic sized defenders or obstacles.
