"Of Whom The World Was Not Worthy": (Pioneer Missionaries of the Churches of Christ)

“Of whom the world was not worthy” is a Scripture phrase taken from Hebrews 11:38. The inspired author of what has been rightly called “The Hall of Fame of the Heroes of Faith” in Hebrews, chapter eleven, holds up the faith of several of the outstanding men and women of the Old Testament who overcame great obstacles to carry out the will of God. After this, the inspired writer comments generally on others who suffered many persecutions but remained steadfast in their faith and won the victory. The phrase “of whom the world was not worthy” is a summary phrase describing these heroes of faith. It is our firm conviction that the humble, earnest, faithful missionaries of the past who are mentioned in this book belong among those “of whom the world was not worthy.”
