Sara, a self described "successful failure," is a lawyer returning to Topsail Island, NC. This is where she grew up and she returns following a messy divorce to get her head together. With the help of her "best friend forever," Janie, she re-enters the dating scene and life starts to get complicated with mixed signals from her old High School boyfriend who is himself a widower and a successful business man. The two of them come together in a bit of turbulence as her Ex-husband appears on the scene. It is a delightful story about rekindling an old romance and coming to grips with control of your own life following the damage done by an over controlling Ex. My wife and I like to vacation on Topsail Island in North Carolina and we have friends who have opened a brewing company there, The Waterline.  It was during one of these vacation visits to chat with our friends that the genesis of the idea that became this book was formed.  We had all known each other in Naples, Italy during our military service days and those friendships just seem to last forever.  At any rate I took some mutual friends as the model for the characters and did a detailed character development then just let them interact on the pages of this novel.  It literally wrote itself and it was a lot of fun.  I hope you enjoy it - and for the record,  changed enough the characteristics of the people that your family will never recognize you (trust me)! I would be remiss not to thank Rob and Eve; owners of the "real" Waterline Brewing Co. in Wilmington, NC. The Waterline is a delightful place with a friendly clientele and the owners have built it into a venue where friends gather in the beer garden and the taproom for good times. It is with their consent that I share their establishment as a location and as a backdrop for some of the action in they book. They also so brew pretty good beer - you should check it out! Sara Brown is a successful lawyer from Virginia who is coming off a messy divorce. She returns to Topsail Island, NC where she grew up as a girl to find herself and to recover control of her life. What she finds is her High School sweetheart, himself a widower who still has deep feelings for her. The appearance of her Ex-husband complicates things as the roller coaster that is her life picks up speed.
