Which came first, the Kansas City Strip Steak or the New York Strip Steak? KC, of course! The story goes that the top loin steak, known as a Kansas City Strip Steak by butchers, was a favorite of a certain Big Apple steakhouse. However, the owner didn’t like that the steak was named after a “cow town” and dubbed it “New York Strip Steak” instead. We sided with the butchers on this one and developed this sweet, yet balanced steak seasoning, especially for the launch of our Kansas City shop. Use our Kansas City steak rub to season steak prior to grilling or searing. This KC steak seasoning is also a great spice rub for any cuts of beef, as well as for seasoning chicken, pork, or a meaty whitefish. Mix 1 Tbsp. into 1 lb. ground beef for a sweet and savory burger. Season root vegetables before grilling or roasting or use as a sprinkle on salads. This steak seasoning rub is both sweet and salty in flavor, and its aromatic, sweet-spiced, and earthy herbal notes with added citrus round out its flavor. The famous New York Strip cut of steak actually came from Kansas City first, so we decided to craft this steak rub to be aptly named after where it really originated, instead of just calling it New York steak seasoning
