Ideal for Cleaning and Resurfacing Metal Approximate Size: 1.0mm or .039" Medium Coarse Grit Heavy Surface Removal of Large Castings, Forgings, and Heat-Treated Pieces Resurface Aluminum, Copper Alloy Castings, Steel Pipes, and Structures Steel shot is the ideal material for metal resurfacing, cleaning, and stripping. S-390 shot is a medium-large shot grade for heavy surface removal, appropriate for use with an airless blaster, approximate size 1mm or .039". It is used for large and medium sized castings, scale removal of forging and heat-treated work pieces, surface blast cleaning of steel plates, sections and steel structures, as well as shot peening of work pieces. Choose the size which creates the desired result. S-70, S-110, and S-170 are fine to produce a smooth finish with excellent coverage. S-230, S-280, S-330, and S-390 size shot produce a medium finish with good coverage. S-460, S-550, and S-660 are coarser for heavy iron and steel. S-780, S-930, S-1110, and S-1320 are the largest sizes for the heaviest applications. Use steel grit, irregular cut shot, for aggressive stripping of surfaces.
