My First Chapter Book: The Color of the Day

My First Chapter Book is designed to help beginning readers dive right into a chapter book. This book was written by an elementary school teacher who saw a need to write books that would be easy for beginning readers to decode so they would become confident while learning to read. Most words can be easily sounded out using basic phonic knowledge allowing the child to concentrate on meaning and comprehension. This book will help the early reader decode by using sight words he/she already knows or is learning to recognize, which will help him/her focus on building his/her comprehension. The story follows a young fox who awakens each day with a new favorite color. The young fox searches throughout the day for his favorite color. Making decisions about what to eat, what to wear, and places to go are all based on the color of the day.
