About this item

A Fish in a Basket: The Story of Prophet Musa and al-Khaḍir

Safiyya likes to ask questions, sometimes difficult ones. Her father, who enjoys long walks with his daughter, will often respond to those questions with stories from the Qur'an. On one particular day, Safiyya's question prompts her father to share the extraordinary story of Prophet Musa and al-Khaḍir, upon them both be peace. Through this story Safiyya is reminded of the humility and patience required for her spiritual journey, and that there is more to life than meets the eye. Join Safiyya and her father as they journey through the story about the fish in a basket and the remarkable lessons that are taught upon the meeting of two great seas of knowledge! A native of Southern California now living in the San Francisco Bay Area, Muizz Rafique has studied or worked for short periods throughout the Muslim world, including Egypt, Turkey, Yemen and Jordan. He is passionate about causes and institutions that raise the spiritual and intellectual discourse in the Muslim community. He is an avid snowboarder and enjoys almost any activity that brings him outdoors, including bike rides and walks with his wife and daughters. Aisha Changezi is an interdisciplinary award-winning artist, a recipient of The Maize and Blue Distinguished Scholar Award with a BFA from University of Michigan, U.S.A. With experience in painting, illustration, design, and ceramics, she is further enriching her art by attending workshops for geometric patterns and English calligraphy. She is an active member of IAMPETH (The International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting). She is also a student of Arabic calligraphy and at the moment is working towards her ijaza (license) in Arabic calligraphy under apprenticeship with a master calligrapher, Dr. Nihad Dukhan. Her diverse background, interest, and experiences are reflected in her detailed, representational, and eclectic art style. www.aishachangezi.com
