This volume one of a three volume set. There is also a separate book containing the index of persons that you are highly encouraged to purchase. You will need all three to have the complete original 1930 book. This volume has been produced under the auspices of the Eddy Family Association, Inc., which had its origin in Boston, was organized at Eddyville, MA on Sept. 15, 1920, and incorporated under the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on October 29, 1923.There are two classes of people, one which is interested in its lineage and one which is not. This book is compiled to give pleasure to the first class and to put in permanent form records which otherwise might be lost to posterity. This book focuses on the descendants of William Eddye who attended the University of Cambridge, and there received the degree of B.A. in 1583. Later William became the Vicar at Cranbrook. His sons who immigrated to America on Oct 29, 1630 changed the surname spelling to "Eddy". There are also others who share the surname of Eddy who are not decedents of William. Volume three (of the 2022 reprint) contains some of their lineage as well. In the genealogies of the Eddy family published in the 1800's, there were no references to authorities for the statements printed. This Genealogy has been wholly rewritten from the beginning and authorities given for the various dates and statements. The compiler regrets that the descendants of every adult male from the various Eddy surname lines have not been traced. This could not be done without the help of every family bearing the name Eddy in these United States.
