Xenorama #53: The Journal of Heroes and Monsters
On July 4th the first full color live-action tokusatsu series was broadcast in Japan. This was Ambassador Magma . It aired one week before Ultraman debuted. The show was based on a manga series of the same name, created by the legendary Osamu Tezuka. It took four years to reach the shores of the United States under the name The Space Giants . It was not as successful as Ultraman, but the show is compelling when watched. We here at Xenorama present a look back at both the live-action show as well as the 1993 OVA version.
