Little Black Girl was a poem written by Filmmaker/Author/Activist Janks Morton after spending an evening going through his 4-year-old daughter's collection of books. He desired to read to her and while communicating hope he also wanted to give her a vision of a potential unlimited future. To his dismay, nothing along those lines were on her shelves. The goal of the book is to create conversation between parents and caregivers and their Black Daughters to encourage and inspire them to recognize a boundless future, despite a world that will attempt to bind them to limiting stereotypes. Little Black Child is a continuation of the initiative to reinforce positive and affirming messages to Black children
