Diamonds in the Rough
In 1963, a boy, his two brothers, a sister and a group of friends built a baseball field scratched out of an open, grassy area adjacent to a strawberry field. In 2003, the boy, who became a man, and a group of other men and women had completed the finishing touches on a baseball field complex in the same town. These fields, built decades apart, were inspired by the love of the game. Their beloved Boston Red Sox were years from their last World Series title in 1918. These Diamonds in the Rough fueled their collective hope to 'reverse the curse', and, more than anything else, they provided a place to enjoy and play the greatest of all games.
