The Epistle to the Ephesians, generally abbreviated as Ephesians, is the tenth book of the New Testament. Its writing is attributed to Paul of Tarsus in Rome for his followers in the Church of Ephesus (in Asia Minor) around the same time he wrote the Epistle to the Colossians, and both texts have much in common and were probably both carried by Tychicus, a disciple of Paul. Starting in 1792, some scholars have defined it as deuteropauline, that is, written with the name of Paul by a later author who has been influenced by his thought, but this is not shared by all because the letters were copied and the copyists, without changing the text, put their own stamp, without losing their spirit. The academic community is today divided regarding the authorship of the epistle of Ephesians, which can be summarized in 4 main and debatable positions. The traditional view that the epistle was written by Paul. To do this, it is based on the epistle itself (the first verse of the letter identifies Paul as its author) as well as the first lists of New Testament books, including the canon of Marcion, Origen and the Muratorian fragment of Papyrus 48, the Alexandrian, Sinaitic and Vatican Codices that bear the same heading, which provides strong evidence of Paul's authorship. Modern scholars who support this position include Frank Thielman, Ezra Abbot, Asting, Gaugler, Grant, Harnack, Haupt, Fenton John Anthony Hort, Klijn, Johann David Michaelis, A. Robert, and André Feuillet, Sanders, Schille, Brooke Foss Westcott, and Theodor Zahn and earlier century JN Darby among others. Written by Pablo but with later interpolations by another author. This position is defended by Albertz, Benoit, Cerfaux, Goguel, Harrison, HJ Holtzmann, Murphy-O'Connor, and Wagenfuhrer. The interpolations do not even mean that it was not written by Paul, but glosses that are often explanatory and interpretative or some personal imprint as idioms from later times that do not distort the message.
