The sequel to The Meek. After a ten-year exile on a satellite in near-Earth orbit, the Terrans return to Earth. Earth has undergone a decade of seismic upheaval. This resulted from the mindless fracking too close to fault lines, to retrieve the little fossil fuel that remained, and was further aggravated by nuclear war. The earthquakes had finally come to an end. They found an Earth that was rejuvenated beyond their expectations. They began the process of rebuilding, mindful of the mistakes of the past. The goal was to make a better world, better for the Earth and all that inhabited it, free of greed and aggression. Bodhi and Gaia, the lovers from the fist book, have their long- delayed wedding. Mara, the daughter of Caleb, who had clairvoyance, has her own unique talent. She is a powerful healer. The community is anticipating the child of Gaia and Bodhi to have either the father’s ability to read minds or the mother’s psychokinesis. However, their contentment is disrupted when they discover that they are not alone and whoever it was didn’t want them there and does everything in their power to destroy them.
