“This is the Way” Scripture of the Day: A Daily Devotional for Gamers, by Gamers (Finding God in Video Games)

“Finding God in Video Games” has been our labor of love for almost ten years, blending our personal appreciation for video games with our heartfelt desire to reach this generation with the Gospel of Christ. The mission of our devotions, articles, and videos are to encourage both Christians and non-believers alike of the relevance and necessity of a daily, personal walk with Jesus Christ while challenging some of our perspectives and pre-conceived notions along the way. The world of gaming is an incredible way to experience an emotional journey, spend time with family, or simply stay connected with friends around the world. It gives us a rich, common language that is shared across all ages, nationalities, and backgrounds in every walk of life. And the reality of God is so much more than what we often give Him credit for because our mortal minds struggle to comprehend Him. When walking the earth Jesus often used allegories and parables to help us understand the complex concepts of God, faith, and living this Christian life. And through our gaming anecdotes, favorite video game narratives, and our passion for all things “nerdy”, we aim to uncover the deep truths of God in our day-to-day adventures in the vibrant world of gaming. It is our prayer that these daily devotions inspire our readers to see the eternal wisdom of God in a modern light and provide hope and encouragement in a world that is overflowing with negativity, darkness, and suffering. These devotions are meant to take the experiences we have had in the world of video games and relate those to the Biblical truths we have found through our own study of the Bible and the inspiration of the Spirit of God. Use of particular games in the entries that follow should not be considered a recommendation of these titles or a gauge of the appropriateness of its content for all ages, maturity levels, or beliefs. We strongly encourage all gamers and parents to utilize not only the ESRB ratings on the game cases when making entertainment decisions, but to also listen to the Lord’s guidance on what is beneficial to spend our time with.
