Matthew Pendley has been writing short stories and drawing since the third grade. Whether it’s writing down a random thought, a song lyric, or just a joke, he’s always believed in staying in touch with his creativity. Gerald the Jump-Roping Giraffe began when Matt and his niece started drawing pictures of goofy things animals could do. Matt has always thought that it is a good idea to write an idea down, no matter how random or small it is, because it can become something big—just like Gerald!
