In a world where mankind and their dragons travel the land and skies, the frontier offers riches and opportunities for those who are bold enough to try and tame it. The people are still recovering from the recent civil war and the need for law and order is paramount as outlaws try to plunder the new world for themselves. In the southwest of the country, an old mining town called Windslow on the frontier hasn't reported any criminal activity, and a new Marshal is sent to investigate. Fresh from training, Benjamin Denton must travel to the town with not much more than his badge and gun to search out the truth. Has the town’s current Mashal gone soft? Are they being blackmailed or coerced? Or is there something larger afoot? However, when a gang of both human and dragon bandits attack, the situation quickly escalates and Benjamin is posed with a problem that will threaten to ruin the town. Without access to reinforcements, and only a handful of stubborn townsfolk, he must partner up with an unusual deputy to come up with a plan that doesn’t end with them surrendering to thugs.
