It may shine a light on why someone who is recovering from an illness acts as they do.  I've had an extraordinary life with many chapters from landscape and nature photographer to screenwriter to Texas realtor and now author. I've been so many places and seen some things. But nothing compares to a simple trip to the dry cleaners or a walk with my dog, Ollie. After surviving a stroke, life is brighter, the air is sweeter, and the warmth of a loved one's embrace, immeasurable more significant, It was about 3 PM on Tuesday, August 15th, 2023, to be exact. I felt an audible "pop" inside my head, saw a brainful of stars, and immediately began to feel my left arm disengage from the rest of my body. I got off the bed, tried walking, and felt my left leg start to drag. I looked in a mirror and couldn't tell whether my lip was drooping but had the wherewithal to sense that if I couldn't tell, it probably was. I mouthed a baby aspirin and called a nearby buddy for a lift to the hospital. It was the start of a horrific and life-changing journey. On August 15th, 2023, around 3pm, I had a stroke and my life changed forever.   I was lucky enough to survive, to rehabilitate and to tell the story, in the hopes that it will help someone else going though this experience, or the ones who love that person. This is the telling of one man's journey from stroke victim to stroke survivor.   I can say that today, everything is sweeter, more vibrant and so much more appreciated. From simply standing and walking to doing the most mundane tasks in life: going to the grocery store, dry cleaner, walking my dog, I am so grateful beyond words.   I have come to writing, as many others I believe, through life experiences and a sense of wonder for the world we live in.
