Todos Santos The Immersive Travel Guide has the most in-depth information of any travel guide ever written on this charming town in Baja California Sur. It is the first in a new series of travel books featuring small towns that are off the beaten path where you establish a base location, immerse yourself in the local community, get to know people and travel to towns that are close by. This is how my husband and I have always traveled to find places that are charming and historical with fewer tourists where you can establish your home away from home, however long you stay. Todos Santos is a place we’ve traveled to for years. Every time we come back it’s better, and we’ve gone twice this year. In this book, I’ve also interviewed local people to hear their stories of why they live in Todos Santos, and the places they recommend for travelers to visit. I am only covering this part of Baja California Sur, not Los Cabos where most visitors and guidebooks focus. In the typical guide book, Todos Santos, LaPaz and San Jose del Cabo are discussed only as “side trips,” from Cabo, which means they get four pages of coverage. That’s fine if you’re only looking to party and chill at a resort on the beach in Cabo. Todos Santos is very different from that. It’s a green oasis in the middle of the desert that appeals to artists, surfers, adventurers, foodies, hikers and shoppers. It’s small enough to get around easily, and big enough to have many things to keep you entertained. It is also located on the Tropic of Cancer which gives it incredible light. It’s a charming and historical Mexican village designated a “Pueblo Magico” for its cultural significance that is easy to get to because I only choose global towns for this series that have international airports close by, as Todos Santos does. Travel can change your perspective and give you new ways to see the world and interact with others. With the magical town of Todos Santos as your base, and the surrounding towns of LaPaz, El Pescadero and San Jose del Cabo as additional options, you won’t feel the same after your visit here.
