Writings included in this anthology are winning entries in the 2025 Write To Win Contest for Oklahoma Students and Teachers, sponsored by the Oklahoma Writing Project. Students and teachers from across the state are encouraged to enter their writings in the annual competition. Judges selected the top 10 percent from each category as winners. For instance, if 30 poems were entered in one division, judges chose three winners. If there were fewer than ten entries in a genre, the judge may or may not have selected a winner. This year a record-breaking 83 teachers submitted 418 entries in the competition. The Write To Win Contest is open to Oklahoma teachers of all grade levels and subject areas. For information for the 2026 contest, look for information in September at owp.org. Information is also available at the back of this book. This anthology was printed at no cost to the citizens of Oklahoma. It is available for purchase on amazon.com for $7. Search in Books: 2025 Anthology of Winning Writing. The purpose of the of the Write To Win Contest is to celebrate the good writing Oklahoma students are producing. Another purpose is to identify excellent teachers who are already using writing as a tool for learning in their classrooms. These teachers are invited to apply for the OWP Summer Institute, where they will demonstrate their most effective teaching practices, study research, and improve their knowledge of writing by writing themselves. After completing the program, they will earn the opportunity to become OWP teacher consultants themselves.
