Has a Creator Communicated to Us in Writing?: An Examination of Holy Books Volume I

We are witnessing a growing presence of a community of scientists from around the globe who embrace a world view, a weltanschauung, called Intelligent Design. Without appealing to any religious book or religion, they see evidences from the physical universe that informs them a Mind is the logical reason for its existence and that the alternative view, to them, would be inescapably beyond miraculous, though some may dignify it by calling it “science.” If that is the case, that is, that an Intelligence produced the universe should we expect, this Being would be interested in communicating with us? The fact we can conceptualize his existence, whereas other forms of life of which we are aware apparently cannot, may be more than an accident. Nature provides a spread of communications systems and contributes to the view that its Creator has an obvious interest in communications. If we afford some credibility to that, how would the Creator communicate with us? Yes, the creation itself communicates some things about his talents, interests, and styles. It provides evidence of an incredible Mind capable of creating highly engineered systems and processes which can be perceived and appreciated by humans employing the senses of sound, sight, touch, smell, and taste. Such data conveys a wealth of meaningful information; however, it does not identify: Who is this Being? Why did he create the universe? What are his objectives? Are we special creations? When we die, is that a final act for each of us? Etc. A written document directed by the Creator would have several advantages over voiced communications. A written document containing the answers to the main questions humans would likely ask the Creator could be translated into all the languages of the world and transmitted from generation to generation. Spoken words are swallowed up in time, whereas written words can persist. Are there claimants, that is, are there books that proclaim they are the communication of God to humans or otherwise have human devotees who make such claims for them? The answer is Yes. A number of books can be so identified.
