ismatu gwendolyn woke up one day a star. It’s not that her life was particularly usual, by normal standards— dancing for rent money in the club brings about its fair share of variety— it’s that of all the things one might expect to happen to a grad school stripper, instant online followings in the hundreds of thousands aren’t on the Bingo card. The collection of essays presented here allow a peak at the periphery of becoming something new, in front of people and in real time. While many people have called ismatu an activist, an agent for change, and a visionary, ismatu experiences their life has the stuff that happens in between all the “big” stuff. For this reason, this text was almost entitled, “small moments make up a life." This book is only on sale until May 28th, 2025.
