This design uses solid brass indexing keys that stay engaged with your workpiece as it slides past the router bit, preventing slippage and ensuring precise results. Just use the knobs to secure the MDF base of the jig into the miter slot of your router table—the sturdy steel sled then lets you guide the workpiece past the bit with complete control. The jig includes precision-machined brass indexing keys to give you air-tight joints with either 1/2'' or 3/4'' fingers. The vertical face of the sled features two sacrificial MDF boards that securely sandwich the workpiece and provide backup support for reduced tearout. Larger pieces can be supported easily by adding a 1/2'' piece of material to the left and right side of the jig platform. The jig is easy to set up and detailed instructions are included. Notes: Near edge of table's miter track must be between 4-3/8'' and 7-3/8'' from the center of the bit. Requires a straight router bit to match the size of the indexing key. Use with up-cut spiral bits for the cleanest cuts without blowout (see #63008 and #57813, sold separately). For best results, we strongly recommend applying a blade and bit lubricant such as Bostik GlideCote (#97594, sold separately) to the router bit before cutting box joints. This will greatly reduce heat buildup and scorching, which are likely to produce poor results and shorten the life of your bit.
