An old adage is “don’t volunteer for anything” which sounds good but is not always the road you want to follow. If you are tasked with a “good deal” project, following through on it can work out to your advantage as you may have opportunities to do new things you can’t imagine and that others did not want to choose. In many cases, they did not know they could choose as they did not give the opportunity any real consideration, particularly if it might be new or different. Brock is assigned to take on a new partner, sight unseen, as those who had first opportunity, turned it down, and then they wondered how he got the “good deal.” She is smart, capable, and more than any rookie officer they have ever seen. Then one new partner turned into two, and everyone wanted to know how that happened. A few have prior history with this second partner, a seasoned detective, who is also very capable and very attractive. Now what? How does the good deal work out?
