More Like Them

Once a month we leave for the woods. We don our Goddess-given fur and roam like pack animals until the full moon wanes. The men watch over our children like they are expected. They cook our meals, clean our homes, and wait for us to return. When the children of Tvaren are old enough, their genders are confirmed. They are either men who stay behind or women who turn into wolves. Either way, at a certain age, we all transform into beasts. Dawn's ability to shift has gotten her into more trouble than she'd ever want to admit but she's always considered the "Goddess' kiss" to be a blessing rather than a curse. After returning from the woods at the end of the full moon with the rest of the women in Tvaren, Dawn begins to see the cracks that the men of their town try so hard to hide. And when the wild wolves of the woods start turning on the residents of Tvaren, the whole town begins to turn on themselves.
