The Primer Level Technique Training Technique Book teaches students how to develop piano technique. It reinforces the concepts learned in each chapter from the Master Quest Lesson Book and teaches students how to move their arms, wrists and fingers to control the sound. The Primer Level takes place in Primeria, the Land of New Beginnings. On their quest to master the piano, students will journey throughout each land and meet many characters. Like any story, they'll want to know what happens next! Piano Power Quest® empowers students to challenge themselves to practice effectively and come to lessons prepared and ready to learn. Teachers award points (which are called "stars") for daily practice and accuracy of main pieces. Stars are tallied at the end of the book and students are awarded a rank title based on how many stars they accumulate. Piano Power Quest® emphasizes the 7 Elements of Piano Music, which include: Notes, Fingering, Rhythm, Dynamics, Articulation, Pedaling, and Tempo. As students advance through the Primer Level, they learn one element at a time. Before learning to read notes on the grand staff, fingering, rhythm, and dynamics are strongly reinforced. Notes on the staff from Bass C through Treble G are learned. Students learn to recognize steps and skips on the staff. Musicianship and expression are developed through the use of dynamics and legato and staccato touches. There are four books in the Primer Level: Master Quest, Technique Training, Sight Reading Success, and Theory Triumph. Using all books together, students learn fundamental functional skills needed to become successful pianists, including: reading music, technique, sight reading, theory, history, ear training, and composing.
