Helen Stanbro Olmsted (1848-1935) was a practicing midwife most of her life. She kept a record book with the names of her clients and information about the babies. She delivered babies in Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Oregon, and Nebraska. She was a budding genealogist. Records of her family are included in the book. The book was lost until it was found by her great-granddaughter, Ann Lamphere, in 1983.
