An infant, unwanted by her parents is raised 12 years by loving grandparents. The child is cherished and taught that respect for others builds self-respect also. Her happy, kind and gentle nature makes her cling to those who show her kindness until she is ripped away from those she loves by the mother who once rejected her. Battered and abused for years, she leaves at age eighteen to join the military, a world where respect is earned by the dignity of hard work and belonging to something greater than any one individual. Later, life presents a series of unusual trials she must overcome, making her stronger in areas where most women fear to tread. Madeleine must tackle traumatic situations in adulthood when evil raises its head in her own home. Tenacity becomes her middle name as she meets every challenge with more determination than the last.
