Things You Find In The Dark

Your reflection in a mirror reveals your physical being. Quite often we, as humans, do not look like what we have emotional endured. Writing is an opportunity to reveal your inner being. Are you in touch with the inner you? You have the power to change. You have the power to improve. You have the power to make peace. You have the power to make war. You are the person you want to be. You are the person the world needs you to be. Each day you create a new you. Be the best person you want to be. The cost of being you will forever be cheaper than living with the regret knowing you spent time trying to be someone else. What makes you happy? What motivates you to get up? What motivates you to lay down? We answer these questions daily with our actions. But what governs our actions? You are more than your circumstances. I used to agree with the phrase” I am a product of my environment.” In kindergarten you are encouraged to dream. “My dream is to become a doctor, lawyer, or a business owner”. When you reach High School, you are taught to settle based on your GPA. Walk into any store and pick up a product and you will see the expiration date. All products have a set life cycle. The usefulness of any product is determined when it’s made. Through lessons learned in life I realized I am not a product of my environment. I am not a product, and neither are you. I have been complacent, sitting on the metaphorical shelf of life waiting for an opportunity to pick me. The moment you realize you are personally or professionally stuck is depressing. What you think about yourself is key to moving forward and living your best life. We are creators who can influence the environment. Imagination is at the heart of creation. The pages that follow are moments in my life that gave me clarity. Some painful but necessary moments for me to be able to write this for your consumption. My hope is through my humility you become comfortable with your process of “figuring it out”. My story is not over yet. I am still living through physical and mental moments. Your story is not over yet. I pray you pick up a pen and start writing the next chapter of your life. Pull out a sheet of paper and write about your current situation.
