PRQL, pronounced Prequel , stands for Pipelined Relational Query Language. I have been with SQL for over 30 years, and had a wish list of SQL updates. Some, in my view, would be easy to add; some are more fundamental. PRQL has already had quite a number of those features!!! You will learn them in this book. (Jokingly, I spelled PRQL, Potential Replacement (for the other) Query Language) PRQL is available in DuckDB database as an extension. DuckDB is an open source software, as well its PRQL extension. Being an embedded database, DuckDB does not have any server software to install. You just need to install the database for a specific client. In this book, I used the database for CLI client (Command Line Interface). You will learn PRQL in the CLI. You need to be somewhat familiar with SQL. My other book, DuckDB Database: Learning SQL in CLI Client, also available in amazon bookstore, is your best resource. This book is meant to motivate you by introducing an updated relational query language, is not meant to explore the features of DuckDB PRQL comprehensively.
