In the small country town of Hale County where corruption quietly reigns, Stella Belle is a high school senior, who longs for a life outside of her predictable rural future. While struggling to find her place amidst restraints of a small-town life with her momma and twin brother Mason, and her big dreams of escaping to be a writer, Stella is haunted by her father’s shameful death. Stella’s life-long best friend Val provides a supportive shoulder, but their futures are not as inclusive as they thought. Then one regular Friday night after a football game, Stella meets Knox Dixon who is the son of a known crime family infesting Hale County. Stella and Knox have a fierce connection of two old souls who rival each other to new heights. The beautiful bloom of first love must fight for its existence in a town where nothing is quite as it seems, and corruption has changed the landscape of expectations. During her journey, Stella figures out who she is while she seeks justice and truth in a town from which she can never seem to escape. After making her way to the beach and a new life of opportunities at college, Stella begins to heal and allow herself to be open to more with Lincoln Thomas who’s love is easy not like with Knox. Stella’s mentor Dr. Natasha Lee gives Stella the wisdom and love from her own experience with struggle. Even though she fights for a future far from her home, Stella is still plagued by her past she left behind. Through all her losses and lessons, Stella must find justice for what the Dixon’s took from her, all while she fights to keep her new life safe from her past.
