This is a textbook for students and practitioners of Ayurvedic Medicine wishing to gain an overview of the Ayurvedic perspective of each month of pregnancy and common imbalances that can occur during pregnancy. In Part One, you will find a month-by-month overview of pregnancy from both the Ayurvedic perspective and the allopathic physiological understanding of what is occurring. We’ve included comprehensive Ayurvedic recommendations for dietary and lifestyle adjustments that will support the healthiest pregnancy possible. In Part Two, we switch the focus to some common challenges that women may experience during pregnancy along with Ayurvedic remedies to these common complaints as well as how to best prepare for labor and delivery. Part Three introduces herbal support during pregnancy and how to approach a few common imbalances that may occur during this time. In the appendix, we include recipes and formulas so that the practitioner may have a thorough understanding of the Ayurvedic recommendations and how to apply them. Although the book pro- vides clear guidelines for application of its recommendations, it is intended only to be used as a resource for a trained practitioner to use in support of their clients.
